The executive council enjoyed happy hour at Playground Bar and Lounge, joined by past section president, professional development and networking committee members, webmaster, and UofA SWE representatives. The executive council meeting focused on the upcoming "Head Shot Happy Hour" event, the UofA scholarship offered by SWE Tucson, and plans for other upcoming events.

​The SWE EC held their first monthly meeting and happy hour on 20 August at Reilly Craft Pizza.  The happy hour was attended by both new and familiar faces to SWE Tucson. It was a nice networking event and good business discussion.  We approved the FY19 budget and discussed the SARSEF proposal to partner with SWE on their STEM outreach activities in the Tucson area school districts. 

The SWE Tucson Exec Council (EC), committee chairs and interested members met on 21 July to discuss goals and plans for FY19. 

Key items discussed:

• Reviewed and discussed proposed changes to section bylaws.
• Reviewed proposed FY19 budget and added line items to update to the new SWE Brand for a tablecloth and banner.
• Identified potential professional development and networking events to plan for FY19.  These include the Section Membership Brunch, a Headshot Happy Hour, and joint SWE, RWN, and Caterpillar WIN Executive Leadership Panel discussion.
• Discussed Outreach activities and possible Girl Scout STEM Badge day
• Discussed moving the UofA Scholarship award from end of year to mid term to improve marketing and keep payment in same Fiscal Year.
• Restructure our current committees and develop new committees for Awards & Recognition and Membership.
• Identified need to update our SWE Tucson Section website to reflect SWE’s Brand and improve our presence on the web.
• Agreed to have set day for monthly Exec Council Meetings with happy hour before meeting for networking
